install Venus OS and the Bridge in 20 minutes

Write Venus OS on the microSD
Download the Venus OS image for Raspberry Pi from Victron’s site and write it with Raspberry Pi Imager. Ten minutes, one click.

Power the Pi aboard and connect it to the Internet
Plug it in near your devices. Open the Remote Console in a browser on the onboard network and join your Wi‑Fi or hotspot; then link the Pi to your free VRM account.

Install Deeck Bridge
In the Remote Console: Settings → PackageManager → Inactive packages → add the package voltdeck-venus-bridge (GitHub user iamdavidedb, branch main) → Install. The services restart on their own.

Open Deeck on the same Wi‑Fi
Deeck finds the Bridge by itself, hands it your device keys and offers remote alerts: one tap and you are covered anywhere.

Good to know
Do I need a VRM account?
Yes, a free one: VRM is Victron’s cloud. The Bridge puts your readings there, and Deeck reads them when you are away. Near the system, Deeck keeps reading Bluetooth directly.
What if the Internet aboard drops?
The Bridge keeps reading and alarms resume as soon as the connection is back. Near the system, the app works over Bluetooth as always.
How much power does it draw?
A Raspberry Pi 4 draws about 2–3 W idle, a Zero 2 W under 1 W: less than a single LED strip.
I already have a Cerbo GX. Is the Bridge useful?
Yes: the Bridge installs on a GX the same way and adds the devices Venus OS does not read — Bluetooth-only Victron, WattCycle, EZA — plus push alerts to Deeck.
Is the Bridge free?
The software is free to download. It activates with Deeck Pro, which is what pays for delivering your notifications.
